In the beginning of the 90s the Egyptian Government opened the dive
sites south of El Quseir till St.John for diving. The reefs of the south
are totally different from the reefs of the north. The whole coastline
is a coral barrier that slopes down to a big plateau; it`s a place of
mighty stone coral formation in which a lot of reefs and supmerged coral
formation outline the coast. One of the most popular sites is the
Elphinstone reef with its impressive walls where encounters with
pelagics like the oceanic white tip sharks are expected all year round.
The sailing distance during the whole week is 400 km and it`s
possible to achieve during the whole year and it begins and ends in
Port Ghalib.
